The LEO Duty knife has a full tang handle with and end of grip for combat striking to body or glass break and small hook end to not slip off hand. The blade is wide enough for combat use to help pry or dig. False back edge to help penetrate objects, but center line stays full thickness from tang for strength/rigidness. Blade can cut through any cord, seat belt or wire etc.Two flaring ends at center in front of handle, one for thumb grip/slip and other for hand slip / combat strike. The swat knife design was based on a solid center of blade to help strengthen and withstand any prying and keep rigidness. The clip point is to help penetrate objects by stabbing, and not a long tip to be bent or roll over, designed with slashing and penetrating purposes in mind. The serrated edge to help saw through any cord, seat belt or wire etc. The hole at end of blade can be used for para cord to make a hand sling for grip or a toggle cord to belt. Grooves on top to help thumb grip/slip, and top surface of knife is to help hammer down or push to gain leverage. D2 Tactical Drop Point G10 Handle
A Drop point is a style of knife blade that slopes on the spine of the blade from the handle of the knife to the tip of the blade. This allows the spine of the blade (where the blade is thicker, and thus stronger) to continue forward to the tip of the blade. This way the point is also aligned with the center axis of the knife, eliminating any pitch momentum when stabbing.
Since D2 is tool steel, it’s susceptible to staining and corrosion. However, when compared with other tool steels, the elevated chromium content (11-12 percent) of the formulation has garnered D2 a reputation for superior corrosion and stain resistance. We have added an acid stone wash finish to the whole blade to help this. My own experience in the field with this steel has shown that the effects of environmental attacks (blood, body fluids and ambient moisture) on this steel are restrained if reasonable care is used.
